BROOKFIELD, December 1, 2020 — STS Additive Manufacturing (STS), a division of STS Technical Group and an industry leader in modern 3D printing solutions, recently added a series of Formlabs Form 3B printers to its growing mix of production tools. With these new printers and the BioMed clear resin they deploy, STS is now fully equipped to print biomedical devices and parts for customers on either short or large-yield runs.
“There has been a lot of exciting growth opportunities in the medical design field as of late,” said Benjamin Heard, Project Manager & Additive Manufacturing Engineer for STS Additive Manufacturing. “Moving forward with this new Formlabs system gives us a much wider array of medical-grade resins to work with, and many of these resins are easily autoclaved, which is really exciting.”
The Formlabs Form 3B ecosystem is optimized to produce high-quality dental parts and biocompatible appliances that include medical devices and device components, jigs and fixtures as well as surgical planning / implant sizing tools. Parts printed with BioMed clear resin are compatible with common sterilization methods, and resins being used by STS Additive Manufacturing are me manufactured inside of the company’s ISO 13485 facility and supported by an FDA device master file.
